Inhale, Exhale
Dimensions: two parts 105” x 43” x 3.5”
Materials: plastic drinking straws, fishing line, wood
Site: iartcolony, 42 Broadway, Rockport, MA (2018)
The drinking straw is being banned in various municipalities for its reckless one-time use of plastic. For now, it is an everyday item that connects what is outside the body, within. En masse these lines of straws subtly rustled in the wind and cast a shadow with openings reminding us to Inhale and Exhale.
“This installation was supported in part by a grant from the Boston Cultural Council, a local agency which is funded by the Mass Cultural Council, and administered by the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.”

Below As Above was a site specific installation created for the invitational Flying Horse Exhibition at the Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA. The artwork was created using plastic buckets, a mirror and styrene. As one wandered the campus during the Fall 2016 public art exhibition, they may happen upon this peice mostly buried below ground. Looking over the piece at their feet, one saw sky or their own reflection peering from below, as above.
